Supporting Mental Health Through Fundraising
Each year, thousands of cyclists take on the challenge of the London to Brighton Bike Ride, pedaling with purpose through stunning scenery. For me, this ride is more than just a physical challenge—it's a fundraising effort for mental health counselling through the Mary Dolly Foundation, supporting the emotional and mental well-being of children, young people, and families.
Last year, I had the privilege of completing the ride in just under five hours, an achievement I hold close to my heart. But let me tell you—it was no easy journey. Hours of preparation went into it, including weekend outdoor cycling and indoor spinning sessions on Zwift to build up my endurance. The steep climbs, rolling hills, and that iconic final push up Ditchling Beacon made me dig deep, but crossing the finish line was worth every moment.
The ride itself was an extraordinary experience. I was surrounded by a sea of cyclists, all fundraising—not only for mental health and counselling initiatives but for a variety of meaningful causes. There was such a vibrant, positive energy—it felt incredible to be part of something so much bigger than myself.
This year, I’m taking on the challenge once again, aiming to raise even more funds for The Mary Dolly Foundation’s mental health counselling programs. The foundation's work in promoting mental health and emotional resilience is a cause close to my heart, as I’ve seen firsthand how critical these efforts are.
As a mental health advocate, I know how deeply physical activity—like cycling—can support emotional well-being and mindfulness. It keeps me grounded, focused, and in the present moment.
As I gear up for this year’s ride, I invite you to join me on this journey. You can make a donation through my JustGiving page, cheer from the sidelines, or even take on a challenge of your own. Your support, in any form, truly makes a difference. Together, we can contribute to a cause that transforms lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this—and if you’re in need of a dose of inspiration, why not grab a bike and enjoy the ride? You might just discover a new passion for pedaling, all while making a meaningful impact.
If you're looking for support or guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me for counselling. Together, we can explore ways to foster emotional resilience and well-being.
